Festival Overview

The Pelican Island Wildlife Festival is an 11-year old event created to showcase America's first National Wildlife Refuge, Pelican Island, offer educational opportunities about Florida's natural resources and entice environmental stewardship. With two full days of activities scheduled from Riverview Park (Sebastian, Florida), visitors can explore all the state has to offer, from one location, while enjoying time with their families and friends. To build on the continuing success of the Festival, activities have been refined to bring visitor's top quality education and entertainment free of charge. The upcoming festival will be celebrating not only the Centennial of the first National Wildlife Refuge but also the Centennial of the entire National Wildlife Refuge System!

Mission of the Pelican Island Preservation Society

The Pelican Island Preservation Society (PIPS) is a non-profit environmental education organization established in 1993 to promote Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the natural heritage of the Sebastian area and the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Pelican Island Wildlife Festival is a project of the Pelican Island Preservation Society, and was created to educate the public concerning Indian River County's most treasured landmark, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, and showcase the unique nature, wildlife and economic alliance existing in Indian River County.

Working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.
